Tantra is derived from the Sanskrit, tan, meaning “expansion,” and tra, meaning “liberation.”
It is best translated as a system or to weave. This stays for a systematic, broadly applicable text, method, instrument or technique, which is very practice-orientated, focusing on esoteric and meditative practices and on the gain of spiritual powers, skills, transcendence and self-realization.
Many of those in ancient India originated practices are still alive to this day.
For example, yoga has its roots in Tantra.
Even though Tantra was an oral tradition at first and the Tantric texts were only written down much later, evidence from archeological founds with depictions of tantric-related motives like those of shamans and yogis may be as old as 4000 to 5000 years.
Many of the Tantric practices are also closely related to those practices, which can be found in some shamanic cultures around the world. In fact, the word shaman, which originates from North Asia, is related to the Sanskrit word shramana, which means ascetic. The ancient wondering monks like Buddha were called shramana. In Siberia and Mongolia, the word saman means to know, which refers to the spiritual knowledge of a practitioner.
A Tantrica knows to control his breath; with the combination of visualization and mantra, he is able to experience a “shamanic” state which brings health, spiritual transformation and union with the divine.
Meditation is the king of all spiritual practices. It is a state that is easier to experience than to describe. It is beyond our vocabulary, yet it is not about the experience as it is about the “non-experience.” It is a state of complete surrender and be. The aim of meditation is to explore the different regions of the mind and eventually to transcend the mind completely.
Tantric meditation is a dynamic form of meditation that awakens consciousness for the purpose of liberating Shakti energy, which is also known as Kundalini. This energy helps to balance the laws of nature, and it speeds up one owns physical, mental, and spiritual evolution.

Yoga is the system of inner Transformation and Enlightenment; it was never meant to be a purely physical practice; however, in now a days yoga can easily become a competitive sport for the satisfaction of ego, and for that, the spiritual aspects can easily be forgotten.
One of the main aims of asanas (yogic postures) was to help the practitioner to have a healthy body that can comfortably sit still in meditative postures and experience the beauty of mediation.
