From a yogic point of view, the body/energy/mind complex is divided into five parts known as koshas; those are like shits layered over each other.
The grossest being the physical body, the next being the energy body, then the mental body, then the wisdom body, and last the bliss body. Equally to the physical body, which consists of bones, organs, blood vessels, etc. Our energy body consists of energy channels that permit the energy to move in the body. Those channels are known as nadis, and a conjunction of the nadis is known as chakra, and we have 7 of them that are most essential. Each chakra is like a psychic center or an energy vortex that has a specific characteristic of an initial archetypical idea.
A chakra is nonphysical, and it only exists in the subtler bodies; nevertheless, all chakras function as control centers that can interchange energy between the subtler bodies and the physical body. This interaction directly impacts the mind-body and the different aspects of personality, and it also impacts the wisdom body, which is responsible for higher intellect and intuition. The bliss body is also affected by the chakras, which can bring transcendental bliss and cosmic love. The quality of the energy flowing inside our bodies can be categorized into 3 main groups, which are known as gunas.
In fact, the 3 gunas are the main qualities of nature itself, and everything in nature can be assigned to one of them. An interplay of the different energy qualities passing through the chakras will give rise to specific emotions, thoughts, behaviors, etc. This will shape the basic nature of a person and its character. It will also affect the physical body and so the health.
